Great Midweight Jacket

Great Midweight Jacket Verified Buyer Reviewed by JacknDenver from Denver Co on Saturday, February 21, 2015

Great Midweight Jacket I ran across Stormkloth when I purchased a snow camp jacket a few years ago. I had been looking for a camp version and found two at Sierra. The main thing I like about this jacket is it has pit zips. Almost impossible to find in a hunting jacket under $300.

The fabric is very water and snow resistant, I have had this out in several storms and stay very dry. Snow starts sticking to the fabric after an hour or so but the inside stays dry. I have a shell I layer for very heavy rain but light/medium rain sheds off no problem.

Pockets are well designed and hood is adjustable. Has a waist adjustment to seal the bottom. Velcro cuffs.

All around, very well done.

I bought both the original and the one just labeled Stormkloth II to see the difference. I returned the new one and kept the original. Main difference was the cloth composition. The new one was slicker/smoother and the original was a softer nap. I expect the new may be better in rain and snow but it was a much noisier fabric if you plan on using this for hunting which I do.

I would be happy with either jacket but would not hunt with the new one.
