FOX Riding Gear Buyer’s Guide

If you were to ask who makes the absolute best motocross and dirt riding gear in the industry, many riders would immediately say “Fox Racing.” In its 33 years in business, Fox has created a reputation for making excellent products with forward-thinking design, top-notch construction, and some of the cleanest designs in the industry.Fox’s origins give a lot of insight into what makes this brand so special. The company was founded in 1974 by Geoff Fox, who was actually a college professor who held a Ph.D. in physics. Following the explosion of the motocross industry in the U.S. in the 1970s, Fox started as an importer of European MX parts and accessories. But within two years, he was designing and creating his own gear under the Fox brand name, which at the time was called Moto-X Fox.Fox was so certain that his gear was better than what was on the market at the time, that he invested heavily into creating his own race team to showcase it. In the spring of 1977, Team Moto-X Fox ran against Japanese factory teams in the AMA 125cc national championship, and put up a very impressive showing for a non-factory team. Fox’s riders wore boldly-designed handmade race outfits that had everyone talking, and immediately, Fox gear was on the map.In the ensuing decades, Fox riders have won over 40 national championships, and Fox riders include some of the most talented of all time, such as Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart. In 2017, Fox continues to sponsor some of the best riders on the planet: names like Ken Roczen, Cole Seely, Chad Reed, and Ryan Dungey, who even after his recent retirement remains an avid supporter of Fox. In addition, Fox is the current supplier of all of HRC Factory Honda’s casual wear, and the official supplier of all of the Pro Circuit Kawasaki Race Team’s riding gear and boots.

Fox V1 and V2 Motorcycle Helmets

Fox’s helmets boast some of the cleanest designs in the industry – but the real story is inside the helmet, where all the quality engineering and innovation can be seen. Leading the pack is the Fox V2 Helmet, a high-end riding helmet that exceeds all standards in the industry.

To create the V2, Fox used ECE 22.05 and DOT standards, not as the standard to be met, but as a baseline to be exceeded. The V2 uses a fiberglass shell construction with 3 shell and 4 EPS liner sizes for a precise fit. Internally, a dual-density EPS liner provides impact absorption, and 10 intake and 4 exhaust vents provide much-needed airflow on the track.

If you’re on more of a budget, Fox has you covered with the V1 Helmet, a great looking helmet at nearly half the price of the V2. Like the V2, the V1 also exceeds all DOT and ECE 22.05 standards, with injection molded polycarbonate and ABS shell construction, 9 intake and 4 exhaust vents, and awesome-looking graphics with a clean matte finish. This helmet also comes in youth sizes so you can get the whole family geared up! Click Here…
