The Main Types Of Biker Jackets
There are many Biker Jacket options available on the market, but today I want to talk about the main kinds that you’re likely to find on your search for the best possible one. When looking for a jacket, there are many things to consider. Here are a couple things I heard pretty often when people are asking me about different types of Jackets.
There are 3 main categories of Biker Jackets
A Leather Riding Jacket is the most classic kind you will find on the market. A lot of people consider it the kind you can wear during any type of weather. Some people consider it the jacket of choice for summer riding. I believe Leather Jackets tend to get a little warm when riding in the summer, though they are great for protecting you from road rash, and tend to last a very long time. In my opinion Leather Jackets are best suited for Winter Weather,Textile Jacket
A Textile Jacket is lightweight, affordable and provides with a decent amount of protection. Textile Riding Jackets are considering the best all season type of motorcycle jacket. A Textile Jacket is a must have in every riders arsenal. The one negative aspect to owning a Textile Jacket is there longevity. They don’t last as long as a leather Jacket, but are also better built than its Mesh counterpart.Mesh Jacket
A Mesh Riding Jacket is like the baby brother of Textile. It doesn’t provide quite the protection you get from its textile counterpart, but it is by far the best type of jacket for Summer Riding. As Mesh jackets are built with lots of air holes, and give it the ability to let air flow consistently throughout the material. Mesh Jackets are definitely the cheapest material available.
The three main types of motorcycle jackets. Leather, Textile and Mesh, are all very important Jackets to have in your closet.
If you just purchased your first bike, and its time to get your very first Riding Jacket. I would take a Leather Jacket as my first option. After that a Textile, and finally a Mesh Jacket.
Make sure to properly size yourself, and try on multiple jackets to find out the best possible fit. As Jacket fitment is one of the most important things when it comes to safety.
